On 11th November Polish people celebrate their national day. Narodowe Święto Niepodległości…
Poland National Day marks the anniversary of the partition of the republic of Poland from the Russian Empire, the Kingdom of Prussia and the Habsburg Empire.
The date, constituted in 1937, was chosen to mark the day Polish statesman Józef Piłsudski was appointed Commander-in-Chief and was entrusted with creating a government for the restored Polish state.
The date coincides with other countries’ Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, or Veterans Day. These holidays and Polish Independence Day are indirectly related because they all emerged from the circumstances at the end of World War I.
We ask some Poles in Abu Dhabi what they miss most about home and how they’re planning to celebrate.
