IRENA has marked five years since its formation in the capital, with officials saying the organisation will become “one of the most important organisations in the world". It is already the fastest-growing agency in the world. IRENA has expanded its role as the global voice of renewables in various topics including climate action. Since 2011, IRENA's engagement has grown to more than 175 countries with activities taking place in 90 countries around the world.

The great global energy transition is accelerating and it needs to be said that in recent years the photovoltaic solar energy has become one of the essential sources of electricity generation that will help to curb climate change. IRENA released a landmark report showing good business sense behind rising the renewable energy because local investments in renewable energy rose by 22 per cent last year to a record $330 billion.
Middle Eastern and North African (Mena) nations can make a "net benefit" of $750 billion if they achieve their set targets on the use of renewable energy. Almost every country in the Mena region has a target for renewable energy from 5-15 per cent," by 2030,
IRENA estimated last year more than 7.7 million employment in the renewable energy sector in the world. This is an increase of 1.1 million in new employment compared to the previous year. Clean energy sector workers are engaged in a variety of industries ranging from solar panels installed electric car parts manufacturing , housing and schools, renovated enhancing the energy efficiency of a building business , manufacturing wind turbine blades , battery technology and energy-efficient household appliances assembly.
